Cape Perpetua Land-Sea Connections Talk

The Cape Perpetua Visitor Center overlooks the new marine reserve there, so the link between land and sea, and approaches to conserving both, would be an appropriate topic for the Winter Discovery Lecture Series held at the center.

On Saturday, Jan. 16, the Audubon Society’s Paul Engelmeyer will discuss connections between protected coastal rainforest areas and the marine reserve.  The free lecture begins at 2 p.m.

Paul Engelmeyer has directed Portland Audubon’s Ten Mile Creek coastal conservation program since 1990, and is a co-chair of the Oregon Marine Debris Partnership (of which Oregon Shores is also a member).  He will survey the latest land/sea conservation issues.

The Cape Perpetua Winter Discovery Series is an opportunity to explore topics and resources relevant to the Oregon coast during the off-season months between November and March. All presentations and guided walks are free, but a Northwest Forest Pass, Oregon Coast Passport or $5 day-use fee is required within the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area.

The Visitor Center the Visitor Center is located at 2400 S. Hwy. 101, three miles south of Yachats.
