Ocean Acidification Panel Discussion

The worrisome subject of climate impacts to the ocean will be taken up by a set of expert voices when the Union of Concerned Scientists and the Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC)  combine to present From Bivalves to Beaches:  Ocean Acidification on the Oregon Coast.  The light reception and panel discussion will take place on Thursday, Jan. 28, 5-7 p.m., in HMSC auditorium in Newport (2030 S.E. Marine Science Dr. in the South Beach area). 

Members of the panel include Dr. George Waldbusser, an assistant professor in Oregon State University’s College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences; Dr. Francis Chan, an associate professor and senior researcher with Oregon State University; Alan Barton, owner of the Whiskey Creek Shellfish Hatchery; and Emily Heffling, Western States Outreach Coordinator for the Union of Concerned Scientists.  This assembled group of experts will provide background information on climate change, ocean acidification, and possible solutions, and answer questions from the audience.
